Looks like the company changed its name to Wulff in the 80's and has now folded....
Louis Eichmann Ltd was first registered in 1956.
I'm guessing the grinder is a circular saw sharpener, but don't have any idea how it works....Cheers,
Joe

My first guess was some sort of saw sharpener, but as the wheel pivots left to right I don't see how it would work.
We don't know how lucky we are......

Suspected it wasn't complete. Now I'm beginning to suspect that the wheel is too thick as well.
So, what's the pivot for?We don't know how lucky we are......

The grinder pivots to set the rake of the saw tooth.
A Louis Eichmann saw was on TradeMe last year but the pic as gone.

Could have been for large saw blades too like a saw mill uses or large bandsaw blades ie like Mal Ward has.

As said above it pivots so you can set the correct angle, if I remember rightly it handles up to a 14' saw

14' it is.
Thanks for all the replies. Next question...do I want to keep it and stuff around making the rails and clamp? Would putting a diamond wheel on it sharpen tungsten tipped blades?
So many questions.
Speaking of the rail set-up....I have a (low quality, possibly North Korean) compound vise sitting around doing nothing...similar looking apparatus appears in some of the pics when I search for circular saw sharpeners. We don't know how lucky we are......
