    Default Oleo-Mac 936 chainsaw

I took my McCulloch chainsaw into the shop for a new chain and they told me it was too old so I bought a new chainsaw. $400 for an oleo-mac 936. It's loud and cuts and that's what I was after so I'm happy.

This all happened about a year ago and now I can't find the owner's manual to check what the story is about the oil petrol ratio... I know there were three options depending on the oil type but I can't remember the details.

I've found a site that says it's 25:1 so that'll do for now but if anyone has one of these little beasties, please let me know.

I found out afterwards that I could have got an equivalent Stihl for the same money and they *must* be better because I see a LOT of adds on TV for them... oh well!

Yes the mix is 25-1 and yes Stihl are a better saw but only if you are using it more than occasional weekends.

I'm upgrading to a Sthil MS 170 after getting round to having a look at one before Xmas. Good light saw with plenty of power for what I need it for.
    Dave,
hug the tree before you start the chainsaw.

Local bloke who is about 90 not out and has sold and repaired saws all his life won't sell anything but the Oleo-Mac now.

Says he sold a couple of pros a saw each, one Husky and one the Mac, at the same time. The pros work together. Has reparied the Husky several times, still hasn't seen the Mac.

PS I wouldn't have a Stihl if you gave it to me.
Is there anything easier done than said?
