And even at that price it's an overpriced tonka toolset.

I notice Bunnings had it out on display again with the video running. Probably trying to clear whatever stock they have left for Christmas.

I bought one for $299. I thought it was pretty good value for an 18V drill, jigsaw, circular saw and torch with two batteries that charge in an hour? (And they all fit into one handy bag.)

Sure the drill press won't drill 25mm steel, but don't forget it's "cordless". It's not meant to do heavy duty work. If it was built to do heavy duty, you wouldn't be able to lift it off the ground.

For what it's meant to be, the Power8 workshop is well designed, built, and (I think ) very innovative.

onething i have seen from ozito, they have a ELU 2in1 dropsaw / table saw copy the was popular back in the 90's.

The shopfiiting mob i worked for years ago had the ELU version it it was great for site work.

Cordless tools these days can do some real grunt work. You just have to buy a serious tool not a tonka playset. Your living a decade behind us with that view of cordless tools. For eg my makita 18V cordless drill could very easily break my wrist if I'm not careful given the amount of torque it has. It's 18V 1.5Ah batteries charge in under 30minutes and if you get the fast charger in 15 minutes.

I'm sorry but unless you are into woodworking with balsa you're going to be very disappointed, things will start off ok for a week or two and run down hill very fast. For $300 you didn't really get a bargain given that you could of bought better ozito components separately to give you the same functionality. Granted not all on batteries but better in the long run anyway and not all would fit into such a small box but then again the same compromises didn't need tobe done either.

I have nothing against ozito tools per say. They have their place but this tonka plastic playset was just made for model makers and that's about it.

    G'day guys,

Geez, it seems a bit harsh. I got one for $199.00 and reckon its brilliant. I relaise that I'm not a professional tradesman, therefore my standards for my tools are limited by by lack of experience, value for money and user friendliness. This thing covered those bases for me.

Hell, IF i could afford to have the best of every purpose this product has, I wouldn't be on here writing about how good it is.

I can see though where it will have its critics, but here are some good and bad points about it:

    1. Its Ozito - well not really, a UK brand called CEL produced it and Ozito are acting as agents in Australia.

    2. Most people would already have if not all, most of the functions of the product in various other tools they have aquired over time - and with considerable finances. You look for any drill press and circular saw and its going to cost you over $250. This thing has just paid for itself in this paragraph.

    3. Its actually pretty powerfull. Maybe mine isn't a croc, but its got more power in it than I expected. The cordless jigsaw ripped apart some stuff prior to cyclone season with no probs, I had actually though of getting out the angle grinder but this was up to the task.

    4. The table saw is easy-as-sod to use. I acknowledge I am only a novice, but it was so easy, I was constantly looking for stuff to chop because i love to use it.

    5. Drill press, probably the weak link of the product, but not because the drill isn't powerful, just the post and pull down mechanism is not as heavy duty as a regular drill press.

    6. The scrollsaw/jigsaw is a beast. Cuts anything i want it too, and after I replaced the blades with some Black and Decker ones, makes very accurate cuts.

I suppose its horses for courses, I needed something with the functions this has, but didn't have the finances. I admit, I would not have paid 600 bucks for it like previously mentioned, but for 200, I'm laughing.

    Cheers

    Aitcho.

Hi Aitcho, sounds like you are more than pleased with your purchase. This thread was started originally over a year ago and criticism came hot and fast as you have probably read. I guess it all comes down to what you want for yourself and if it does the work you want it to do for you then that's all you can ask of any tool or machine.
At $199 , if it does all you claim then it can't be bad value for money. Good luck with it.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John
