Pneumatic Framers (all brands) v Paslode Gas Framers.
Need to buy another big tool and yes, as I've told the wifey (god bless her) I do really need it .
I want something that will nail into F17.
I initially told wifey I'd be buying a Paslode Gas framer and that the cost would be a maximum $600 plus nails but was told that they don't have the punch to fire successfully into hardwood especially F17. I'm quite happy to purchase a pneumatic type like the Paslode pnuematic framer and spend the extra for the hose and compressor (and so will my wife.....she just doesn't know it yet) but also understand that the Paslode Gas Framer is more convenient (no hose and compressor to pull around).
The most important thing is the right tool for the job - gas or no gas.
So.....pnuematic or gas.....that is the question.
Cheers guys and gals,
Dr - 307.All decks should be stained....black white black white black white.......after all it would match anything!
All roofs should be covered or tiled.....black colorbond, silver mist, black colorbond, silver mist, black colorbond.........after all, we wouldn't want a mismatch!

I just got the Paslode gas gun for putting up a load of stud walls, only pine though Im afraid.
I also used an air compressor framing gun on the same job.
I have too say the Paslode came out on top on this particular application.
Air gun:
I found the trigger on the compressed air gun a bit touchy, sometimes firing 3 nails at once, also where the timber was a bit 'springy' the nails weren't firing home.
Plus it was much longer, heavier and generally more clumsy to use.
Gas gun:
I've never been a fan of the gas guns, they require lots of maintenance and even though this gun was brand new it sometimes failed to fire at all.
It is slower, maybe one nail every 3 seconds, but thats ok for a plodder like me!
Price wise the Paslode gas gun was $699
The Paslode pneunmatic gun was $550 (the pneunmatic gun I used was not a Paslode btw)
