is this really a powered hand tool?
I'm not sure how this should be classified.
Today I received an email from DeWalt advertising their latest battery powered dodad FLEXVOLT® 60V MAX* 2.5 Gallon Cordless Air Compressor Kit - DCC2560T1 | DEWALT.
Now I'm really confused.
Is a battery powered compressor really a cordless tool?regards from Alberta, Canada

Ya pick it up with ya hands doncha?
Seriously though, that looks like a pretty useful bit of kit for a tradie or field worker (thinking farmers etc). Battery powered tools have gone way past "hand" classification: mitre saws, lawn mowers, etc. Possibly even useful on an archaeological dig where they have to be so careful scratching away dirt from artifacts.

The way I would look at it the compressor is cordless but the air tool is not cordless.

that's were I'm not so convinced.
You can already get 15g and 18g cordless nailers -- but they're a bit pricey. Like >$450 CAD
this unit would allow you to run a $50 18g bradder either as a corded or "cordless" tool so in that respect might be very cost effective. The 10 L tank would be a bit of a constraint.
and then again, being cordless you might be able to use in environments that are positively dangerous if connected to the mainsregards from Alberta, Canada
