Default Recommended Saw for a DIY Track Saw

I'm after a small quality reliable 210mm circular saw for a DIY track saw.

Could anyone recommend a particular saw or brand that cuts an accurate (with a smooth finish) 90 degree and 45 degree cut?

    Thank you.

A makita with a quality blade would be my first suggestion.
My other thought would be to check out the hare and forbes track saw. Its a decent kit for the price, and with modifications it is a nice saw.

I recently bought one of these Scheppach track saws from H&F.
While it's not a Festool, it does a good job for the price.
The only complaint I have is when using to lengths of track, it's difficult to align them properly.

    Thanks for all your replies.

Due to financial constraints, I'll have to build my tracksaw.

The Makita is probably the go.

BTW, has anyone ever built their own tracksaw?

    Thanks again.

Not exactly a tracksaw but I did build a straight edge system using a sheet of MDF.
Lot's of mentions on Google but here's a site that gives a fairly clear desciption on how to make.

This one needs a table saw to cut the guide strips and relies on you getting them accurately aligned to a sawn/drawn line - lots of places to make a mistake. The use of melamine board is a good idea though, nice and slippery.

I've made a couple and masonite works well

easy to make just find a thinnish board for the saw to ride against. no measuring just trim to size when all glued up
Leave a decent size non saw side for somewhere to place the clamps so they don't foul the saw motor housing

Unless you go for a Festool-class set-up, you will also probably have to budget for a decent saw blade.

I have been very pleased with my 235mm Makita [which I use mainly in a Triton] since I put a good quality 60 tooth blade on it.

A mate has a Metabo track saw and he swears by it; but I haven't used it yet so I cannot comment beyond saying that his judgement is usually sound. He says that his Metabo is much smoother and nicer to use than my Makita. Must be, 'cause he doesn't borrow the Makita anymore!
