    Default SCMS Mak LS1018

This is my first post here so hello to everyone, hope you are a patient bunch as I am very green on the woodworking topic but want to learn.
I tried to post this thread before dinner but when I submitted it it dissapeared for some reason, so appoligies if it becomes a duplicate.

I have been looking to buy my first SCMS and would be mostly using it for random reno jobs around the house, making frames for my wifes art work, would like to make some furniture eventually when I dont suck so bad and cutting up treated pine sleepers for garden edging (can I do that with a SCMS).

I looked at the Ryobi scms 10" at bunnings for $299 but heard it was pretty inaccurate, probally just going to make things harder for me as a beginner I thought.

I thought about a non slider Mak ls1040 nice saw but will kick my self first time I have some thing of size to cut, only have a 185mm Makita Circular saw and a Jigsaw.

Drooled over the LS1016 but best I could get it to was $890 price matching at the Big B store.

So around my budget of $500 I spotted the Makita LS 1016 starting to show up here and there on the net for $550-600 but being new there isnt any reviews I could see. Has anyone here got one and is it any good?

I know you get what you pay for and accuracy comes with that. But being new to it all I dont want to make a mistake in such a big investment for a power tool.

    Would appreciate any help.

    hi sylox
welcome to the forum although i havent got a scms i would love one they look like a farley good unit check out hitachi and blue bosche as well
try your local gasweld store or power tool store as the people there have a good opinion on power tools, pick what you want get the best price and go to bunnings and they guarentee to beat the best price by 10%
    good luck with your choice
