Shop vac recommendations?
Good morning everyone... about to buy a ROS and just wondering about any suggestions on a reasonably priced shop vac. For me it would have to be something not too big and portable as all my projects are away from home. Some local, some 400km away and space in my car's is reasonably limited.
I read one post here where someone mentioned a bit of a bargain ($70) at Aldis. I won't be using this or the tools a lot but of course you want a reasonable balance between performance and price. I guess something without bags to replace would a better option if possible.
Looking to hook up a Bosch PEX270 ROS initially.
Thanks
John

This vac meets all your needs except one--I don't know if you can get it in OZ. I have one for off-premises work and it works a treat for what it is.

Have a look at the Pulman range of vacs at Godfrey's. You can get a bagless "industrial style" for around $100.
With any shop vac purchase consider how the hose is going to connect to your tools before purchase.

Bunnies ShopVacs for $99 - they were the 15 (litre?) model, they are now selling the 20 (litre?) model for the same price. Pretty sturdy & are genuine ShopVacs & fit all the ShopVac accessories like the Mr Nozzle hoses. For another hundred $ they have a model with a stainless steel body - may even have a blower port too. Strangely I haven't seen genuine ShopVacs around since Bunnings started selling them.

I bought a Bunny shopvac with the stainless steel body 20 liters, I use it on small machines, scroll saw , vertical sander and the like. A good machine but very noisy and don't touch the body or you will be zapped

Can you fit adapters to those bunnies shopvacs to fit all sorts of handheld power tools?

Jisk - from what I have seen (& I have the small model) these are just straight vacuums with no auxilliary power point for hand tools. I think K-Mart was flogging an 'Arlec' Vac with a secondary power outlet, but I haven't looked lately and there is probably a GMC with the same features, different colour.

Cheers les and bsrlee. I was interested in the hose fittings rather than the secondary power point.. i guess gaffer tape is an option.

I had a shopvac for years that finally died. I now use a Nilfisk domestic cleaner attached to a Triton bucket. I found the vacuum in the hard rubbish when looking for extra hoses and it worked.
For fittings I have used PVC plumbing pipe and softened it over the stove then shaped to fit the various tools. Any big change in shape was done it small steps letting it cool then raheat and shape furtehr.
