    Default Got my TSC-10HB

    G'day.
Finally made the leap to the now famous model of TS used by many mortals on this BB. The blue 10HB was assembled yesterday afternoon between footy moments. The only minor tweaking needed was to loosen the 4 bolts to reposition the table in order to get the blade parallel to the mitre slot. All other parts fitted as they should. No drilling of holes to get fence systems working (ya know what I mean). The Biesemeyer style of fence seems pretty good. No need to upgrade this part any time (excepts for specialised sub-fence systems). The mitre guage is possibly the only part that will need modifying or replacement. Installed an 80 tooth CMT blade and tested some cross cuts. Tearout on the bottom of wood is undetectable by naked eye. Do not see need for 0 clearance insert at this stage. Even the melamine had minimal tearout.
All in all a very positive experience so far.
    Regards
    A very happy Les

Congrats on the new arrival Les. My saw from CT was similar to yours with it being well set up except for the blade alignment. Quick work with a dial indicator and a 13 mm spanner had everything aligned.
I agree with your comments about the mitre gauge as being fairly poor. I drilled and tapped 4 holes and inserted some nylon bolts in the mitre bar to help take out the wobble. Not great but it will do until the Incra 1000se mitre gauge arrives
I only fitted a 60 tooth blade but the quality of the cuts in all the timber I have tried has been great.
Did you get a mobile base with it. Online tool reviews has a review of the hjc base I got and I'm very pleased with it but I'll reserve final judgement until I compare it with the cheaper ones that you make your own rails for.

    Enjoy your "toy"

All is now finally assembled and tweaked. The fence system only needed minor tweaking for 90 deg setting to the table. Used a digital vernier to check all other settings, and all within 0.03mm tolerances. Could not wish for better than that.

Petej - As I am only 4km from CT the delivery was free for me - having said that, I am a good customer of theirs and always support them - maybe that is why I got the delivery free.

Jock - I purchased the HTC3000 heavy duty mobile base. Just need to adjust the rubber feet to get the most stable situation. I have also added an extra wing which puts some additional weight to the right, but the stability is still very good. I will look at the incra mitre guage at a later time - it seems to be the bees knees.
    Regards
    Les

    G'day,

Lucky bloke, wish I had one.

It's on my one-day-to-get list but now want to get a 13" Thicknesser first - ahh one day.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Just some final piccys and see how it is positioned with some other machines in the one half of the garage. Everything is on wheels, and as positioned can machine timber with lengths of up to 1500 mm. Reposition as required. All docking of long lengths is done with scms in the shed.
Just repeating that the CT 10HB has been a simple straight forward operation to set up with everything fitting as one would expect.
    Regards
    Les

Congrats. Some nice machinery you have there.

I bought the tsc10hb just over 5 weeks ago, then went out of the country for 3 weeks

Keeping the standard wing and attaching the router wing on the outside is a good idea, kinda wish I had done that now. The only disadvantage being that the mitre track is a fair distance away now...

I have almost finished building a fence for the router wing, which I should post details of in the next couple of days...

How much did they charge you for the extra wing?

    RB,

the extra wing was $99. I will also add to the router wing with some material that will have a miter slot. Should not be too difficult.

She's a little ripper alright. I've had mine for a year now and haven't looked back. Best value saw in the country.

Not only is she a little ripper, but also somewhat of a cross-cutter - although my scms is normally used for this (up to 300mm width). Do agree - good value for money (The triton WC2000, saw and accessories came to $1500 in total). If the space and mobility is not an issue, the 10HB is an attractive proposition.

I noticed that in the new issue of Chatterbox from Timbecon there is a description for building router fence to fix permanently to the TS fence. Looks simple but effective.

Les, glad that you are happy with your purchase.
