TSC10HB Bargain!!
A mate and I have talked Carbatec down to $1250 if we both buy a TSC10HB.
Lets get together and see how low they will go.
I know this worked for some last year, no harm in trying

It's on special for $1295 anyway - maybe they think that's enough.
I also think you are preaching to the converted.......those that are going to convert, already have. Others, like me, would love to but can't justify it.If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Jack E, I am buying one of these saws this week. I intend to buy it from Brisbane Carbatec and pick it up form the shop. If adding my purchase gets a better price I be in on the deal.
I also want to get a couple of blade, so if they are not going to budge on the saw price we may be able to get a better price some other bits and pieces.

I hate to imagine what the freight from Aus is on a tablesaw but I'll buy it from anywhere if the price is right. AU$1250 less 10% AU GST plus 12.5% NZ GST = AU$1278 (NZ$1351) plus freight to NZ.
You guys are lucky. I guess it's just scale of economy but the chances of trying to find a decent tool store with tablesaws etc on display in Wellington is pretty much zip. I Can't find a decent tablesaw on display anywhere here. Auckland's probably a bit better as most of the NZ tool companies are up there. Heck, we only just got Bunnings in Wellington 6 months or so ago...

Bad luck Tonz,
You have to pay more for tools and you have to support the All Blacks
Knucklehead,
I will wait a bit longer to see if anybody else wants in. Then I will ring Carbatec and see if they will come down any further.

But seriously it's quite frustrating seeing all these things on Australian and American websites and not really being able to purchase most them due to exhorbitant freight charges. Why is it so many US companies only support UPS air freight? US$81 freight for a US$39 part was one price I noted the other day... go figure...

I'm guessing this is a proper cabinet saw?
The only option I have in cabinet saws is a Unisaw (Delta fence, 32" rails, that's it) here, at about AUS$4000. Heaven forbid you want better fence or more rip capacity. Even the Delta Contractors saw (which unless I get lucky is what I will have to get) will be over AUS$1500 by the time I get it, plus a blade.
And last time I checked, there were about 5 times more people here than in Aus and NZ combined.
The really annoying part is I have the workspace to put in something that would cut off the end of a full ply sheet sideways, prolly 3 or 4 of them...
I think this might be part of the reason why I am very seriously looking at what's required for an import/export license here.
Maybe I'm just angry because I have shingles right now too, I don't know.

Yeah but are the prices for Japanese tolls any good?????????
I often look with envy at the edged hand tools that are available, but alas I cannot justify the prices.

Psst... Yeah, really good...
Just threw that in to annoy you. To be honest, they are cheaper but not by enough to get excited about. I base that on what they get them for in the US, so I guess you guys are getting Jolly Rogered, without so much jolly.
But you have to realize that while I can go and buy top end chisels and saws, planes and measuring/marking tools for cheap, they are only a small part of the whole package. To the extent that they are about the only part of a workshop that I can buy cheaper than most guys can. Everything else (as far as I can work out) costs the same or much, much more.
You know I have only one option for a locally (Japanese) made 1/2" variable speed router, the 3612 Makita. That's it, and even then I would have to import a 1/2" collet assembly from somewhere else, and you guys can buy it cheaper than I can off the shelf. I can get it cheaper, but that's hunting down the online folks doing it out the side door.
And there is little or no middle range. Like you get a 12" then maybe a 15-16" planer, then the industrial stuff. I can get a 12", but after that it's all industrial and all serious dollars, like 5 figures serious. Correction, I can get a 15" Delta, at about $3,000.
And it doesn't end there, getting wood is a PITA. I priced some cherry a while ago, best price was $6,000 m3, or about $13 b/f. Luckily, I just found somewhere that will do it for real prices, or not even 1/3 that price above, but that's after 3 months of searching, prodding and pleading.
It's just plain wrong, but that's how they do it here.

Knucklehead,
It seems nobody else wants a good deal.
Probably a bit to much trouble to organise for just one more as we are buying from Townsville and getting them delivered.
I would hit them up for $1250 anyway as you now know they can afford to go that low!!
Good luck, Jack."There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark."
