    Default Tweeking a GMC Compressor

I have a GMC 40ltr compressor that i am really happy with. but lately i have been using it for nailing jobs [framing pine and finishing gun work] and have found that the pressure switch needs to be adjusted so that the motor kicks in earlier, meaning cycles more, but keeps up the pressure in the tank so i am not half driving nails in.

Does anyone know if the pressure switch can be tweeked, adjusted or modified?

its out of warranty, so i dont care about if its voids it or not

    Thanks

    Hi GCP310,
The problem with the pressure switch on your GMC compressor is that the differential pressure can't be adjusted. It is a set differential and the gap between the cut in and cut out is quite large. All you can do is increase the cut out pressure up to the maximum of about 9 bar. the cut in pressure will also be slightly higer. To do this, pull out the plug from the main, then take off the pressure switch cover by removing the small screw next to the on/off button. You will see a hex bolt on top ,-turn it clockwise to increase the pressure.May be one turn at the time then start the compressor and see where it cuts out at.But don't go up higher than about 9.5 bar max.You might have to readjust the safety valve also if it blows off too early. Or you could fit a better quality pressure switch where you can adjust the differential. A good switch would be a Condor MDR2/1100. If you need any more info just pm me. Good luck
