Default value for money drop saw

    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a new drop saw and on a reasonably tight budget. Looking for something under $400 just to do the basics reasonably well. Want to be able to do pretty simple angle cuts and a bit of trenching with the depth setting. Not too fussed about laser sights and all that jazz, just something that will be reasonably accurate and go the distance. It won't be used day in day out and worked like buggery so I am debating the Ozito's, GMC's, Ryobi's etc although I'd like a DeWalt or Makita etc, I can't really justify the extra $$.

Which makes/models are the best value for money for what i'm looking for?

    Thanks,

Thanks Pat, do you think that's a competitive enough price, I can't seem to find many prices around the web especially in Australian $, might have to look around at some of the retailers but that suits me perfectly. Would be much more comfortable with a Makita instead of the GMC's and Ryobi's etc...

Certainly won't go wrong with that saw for simple angle cuts, but you won't be able to do trenching with that saw as it's only a Compound Mitre Saw not a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw.

Otherwise it would be a very good saw

You say you want to do some trenching. You wont be able to do this with a dropsaw. What you need to do this is as a Sliding Compound Mitre Saw.

    just for your info

I have the one Pat suggested

Very good... basically you get what you pay for.....
so for the money i go the Makita and dont worry about about trenching
Everything looks better with a ( or two ) glass of Red

$369 is good. I am pretty sure Bunnings are selling it for the same price.

I paid $500 for the same saw 4 years ago.
