Wagner Saf-T-Planer ??
Hi chaps and chapettes,
I have seen quite a bit of talk about this tool from woodies in the usa but yet to find a supplier of, or even picture of one. Apparently it is used on a bench drill and shaves off material as the job is pushed under it. I gues it is like a mini thicknesser.
It would be a real big help in my workshop if i could find something similar available here or even from o/seas if i have to import it.
thanksray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

I saw one of these in the display case at "The Tool Exchange" in Melbourne a couple of years ago. Pattern shops used to use them, apparently. The chuck on a drill press is not designed for side loads, so you may find it a less than delicious solution to your problem.

Carbatec used to stock them, don't know if they still do.

Just wondering what sort of job it does having regard to the side load issue mentioned above. Which is something i didn't consider.

Jury is out on this one. There seems to be conflicting reports on how good it is. Some hate it, others love it. It is apparently very useful in making guitars which is why I want one.
I will post back with a report on how it goes.
BTW i got one from Timbecon in perth for $125.00ray c

I couldnt imagine the small amount of side loading affecting the DP that much... unless you force it on a constant basis.
