Default Timber frame Apple Press and cider making

Well I'm finally going to make it happen. I'm going to have a new press for the apples this season.

I've got about four weeks to build it.

I'm going to be producing a series of videos to share the journey.

    First one coming soon.......

Got the first video done on moving the large timbers by hand.

I'm shooting the next video which introduces the tools today.

Got the first post for the press dressed yesterday. First take away is that its best to do this when the timbers are green. Unpredictable, nay even predictable changes in grain direction led to a lot of blow out. The summer has been so dry that the wood is very splintery. Even with the axe razor sharp its still difficult to prevent the blow out.

    Coming along though.

That looks as if it is going to be a big press. How many apple trees do you have?

I've been busy picking and hewing and progress is happening slowly.

Hoping to start the joinery tomorrow.

    Ok time for an update.

Leveled up my work area and laid out the first three posts on their sides.
