Sounds good Neil. I'm not sure, but if there are differences between the 660 and the MS 661 I'm hoping its not to much of a difference and my saw will power the 42" with no problems . Someone did tell me to go for a 660 but I went new and a close drive to pick it up.

Apparently there is a pin I can pull on the MS 661 to allow a bit more oil to flow if its needed.

Not sure, I had assumed the 661 was the new 660, my oiler has a screw adjuster (that is permanently full on)

This will be the Elm tree I'm trying this out on . About two meters to the right of my daughter ( zoom in ) its roughly One meter thick. It rotted out at the base and fell over, split from its other half still standing. Way over mature I think with a fair few spots where branches have broken off and rotted back inside . Lovely dark Ripe Elm colour inside though . It should be a bit of fun and well worth it though I hope, probably no good for big table tops but good for smaller pieces . Its nice to be able to decide before a tree is cut what its best use may be and cut to suit. I did it with a milled Oak once but paid to have it cut.

Thanks for the info Rob. Good to know my local guy is looking after me.

Nice size tree, it will be like Christmas opening it up. Hope it has some good bits in it either side of the rot. Post some pics once you mill it!
    Cheers Cal

Yep Cal Ill post some pics. I'm making a start on it tomorrow.

I got the mill assembled today . Pretty good value for $180 inc delivery!
The instructions were ridiculous though ! Maybe its just me ?
I found it much easier to just do the obvious and look at the ebay picture for the rest.

Chinglish! Good isn't it. Not many parts in it so easy to work out.

    Dai sensei,

What chain do u go for? Stihl? Carlton?

I have mainly used Stihl chain, however am willing to give something else a go if it is any good.
