Bar for Chainsaw slabber
What size bar do you have for your chainsaw slabber and what type of saw is running it?
Thankyou

Stihl 660 with home made alaskin mill
36 inch bar with 27RA chain sharpened at 10deg. or a 44 inch bar with either a 27RA or 27RX chain also sharpened at 10 deg.
The 36 bar with RA (single skip) chain is a good match for the 660 in both green Silky oak or dry Blackwood.
I find the 44 inch bar bogs the saw down in green silky oak with the 27RA chain so hope the RX chain (5 skip) will fix that problem. havent used that chain as yet.
Cheersregards

My husband just bought a stihl 880 yesterday and is getting a 60inch bar next week for it.
Do you think the 880 will be able to handle the 60inch bar?
He has a husqvarna 395 and runs the 36inch bar on it.

I have an 880 and the largest bar I run is 72". I use 5 skip chain and have had about 66"+ of the bar in the log. Admittedly, this was in camphor laurel and Mango, but like all cutting tools, keep the feed rate at the appropriate speed for the machine and the material and you won't have too many problems.
I would suggest an auxiliary oiler for that length bar as well. I am pretty sure the BobL has covered the need for an auxiliary oiler elsewhere on the forum as well. Good luck and don't forget to post some pics of the slabs !!

Does anyone mind if my husband can ring one of you, as he doesn't use the computer and would love to talk to someone that knows what they are doing?

I suggest you get to work on the preliminary paperwork for a court order to keep Allan away. He is known to "like" his lucas, and happy to tell anyone who will listen how good they are
If one happens to be the 10inch he would likely flood Q/land with drool
If he rings your Dad it would just go on and on and on and on if you get my point.
cheersregards
