yes plenty of sapwood which is typical around here in high a rainfall area, cutting it into 20 x 20, 100 x 38, 100 x 50, 150 x 25, 150 x 50, 100 x 100.

not a bad sized log.
should cut up nice.
red or pink blood wood?
most blood wood has a big sapwood. even up here on the dry ridges it has a good 15-20mm, when the ironbarks would be lucky to have 4. cut an ironbark and a bloodwood for splits yesterday (amoung others) tehy were within 5m of one another the bloodwood had about 15mm pf sap and i was surprised i could not see any sapwood on the iron bark at all
much tension in them? the reds round here are bad but pinks are good.

red or pink only has to do with the maturity of the trees down here, same species though (red), the young are pink & mature are red. And untill they mature the timber is not durable in the ground which is the same for turpentine, that log had a normal amount of tension, about 20mm over 2.8m.

Nice!!1 Haven't seen Bloodwood like that since I was a kid on the Nambucca. Always had a soft spot for it.Remember dad falling a couple of dead ones ( ring barked ) that we cut up for firewood!!!
The felling was done with and axe!! The logs were cut into firebox lengths and my older brother and I loaded the onto a tip truck by hand! Wish I was so fit and strong these days.!!
