saw chain id needed
we got some stihl chain for our MS170 a wile back and cant get the same stuff.
this stuff cut brilliantly both plunged, end grain and crosscut. i really want to buy a roll but don't know the mode number.
its either
63PMC3-44
63PMC3-50
63PMC3-55 (my moneys on this one)
i think.
the best way to id it is that the scraper it bent over on the top. like an upside down L . it is 3/8" low profile, .050 bar grove.
ill take a photo if i find the loop.

Hi Carl, The chain in the pic would appear to be 61PMN 3/8LPx.043 ( picco micro narrow ) not 63PMC3 ( picco micro comfort ) - the number after this only indicates the drive link count on a single loop - I have checked the Stihl online catalogue against my 2005 printed version and it no longer shows this particular chain.

it fits my ms170.
the bar reads
3/8 lp x 0.050
and the box it came in reads the same.
i hope i can still get it it is bloody good stuff.
each time we buy a chain it is a different style some cut mutch better than others.
this one hac stihl PN stamped on the cutters.

It's the only one that looks like it in my catalogue, it didn't show it in .050 and is not listed now. Check the Stihl site http://www.stihlusa.com/chainsaws/types.html

Hi Carl my stihl 180c has a 14" bar on it , it looks like the same chain , but the chain is stihl low pro 3/8 x .043 and also has the bent bit as you said and your right it is bloody good chain , I was just wondering if your saw has the original bar on it , you could easily have a .050 bar and .043 chain on it and not even know , .043 and .050 are so close in gage it would make little diff . Just a thought . Cheers MM
