Chain supplier Victoria
Due to human error , I have compressed the chain on my Stihl and need a replacement. I do not have the CS on front of me as I am overseas, but from memory it has a 25" bar.
This is the perfect opportunity to go for a chain more suited to CSM/freehand slabbing rather than utilitarian crosscutting.
The question is what type of chain should I be looking at, and also where to get it from in Victoria. Any suggestions?

Your Chain.
Hi Cava,
I'm thinking that you could surely go to one of those Lawn Mower Shops to get your Chain, as the 3 here in Geelong all have Chain Saws for Sale, so they must have Chains for Sale, no matter what length you wood want. 2 of them have both Stihl & Huskies.
I was always aware that Chains come in a big roll, & the just cut & join to what is asked for.
Hope that may help.Regards,
issatree.

Thanks issatree,
But the local offering of mower/chainsaw shops, are very limited in their scope and offering ie you get what they give you out of a packet. It's just the standard chain and profile, and nothing else.
Hence the enquiry for something different.

Don't actually remember.... It was a couple of years ago and after the wood show where I picked up a cs mill so price wasn't really in the forefront of my mind. It was more like 'get chain cut log' kind of thinking. (a tad excited).....
Sorry"All the gear and no idea"

Hi Cava,
All of my chains come from Sawchain Supply in Queanbeyan NSW just out of Canberra. Laurie has his business at home so he does not have the overheads of other businesses, so is not as
expensive, he is also very knowledgeable when it comes to the type of chain you require for a particular job. He will post to anywhere. He has a website as well that will give you info. on chains. I have dealt with Laurie for a long time and one thing he does is tell it like it is, no BS. No's are 0413 392 960 and 02 6299 3328. Hope this helps.
