I place mine to the left of the break from the nose to the bar (to the right of your red line) you are then far enough away from the sprocket. BobL has written posts about drilling the centre of the sprocket with a cobolt bit or masonry bit and tapping a thread in the mill to accept a 6mm bolt, thus doing away with the clamp set up on the bar and giving maximum cut. See how you go width wise with the clamps first, ensure you clamp evenly too.
