Default Full chisel or semi chisel chain ?

I was looking to buy a 100ft roll of full chisel chain for the milling I want to do . Full chisel was recommended to me .
GB forestry are out of it though. Will semi chisel be OK or should I wait because the Full chisel is the way to go ?

The chain they have is this , the two chisel types, full or semi shown .

    Swings and roundabouts again.

    My experience:
Full chisel cuts faster initially but dulls quicker and so no overall gain in speed compared to semi on a long cut.

Finish is highly operator dependant but I've found semi chisel tends to produce a better finish.

For firewood /cross cutting where you can stop anytime and touch up I would go for chisel.
For milling its a PITA to have to pull the mill out of the cut and touch up semi is preferable.

I don't mill with a saw but from a felling perspective I totally agree with Bob's experience.

Full chisel cuts faster. Its performs great in softer timbers.

Semi holds its edge better in the hard stuff.

The unmentioned chipper pattern (dunno about other sizes but still available in 404 and 3/4 pitch) is slowest cutting but for real dirty logs its da bomb for edge retention.

Thanks Bob and John . I ordered the semi chisel and its on its way . That's one more step to being set up to cut, and 100 ft is going to last a long time and will save in the long run . I just placed an order for a chain break and spinner in one combo from ebay as well . the chain was roughly $420 inc gst and freight . The Stihl chain was $630 roughly +gst + delivery Im pretty sure !!
