Default cutting extreamly long recycled hardwood

got a call the other day from the people at a local mill asking if i would come down and cut a 9.6m 150 x 50 from a recycled power pole.

i used there equipment first i had to spot a flat on the log with a rickety old lewis saw that can only take 6m so had to put it in on an angle and do one end at a time.

then over to the bench to break it down further, now life would have been much easyer if the log would fit between any of the posts and the tailout rollers were longer, but we got it done none the less.

but not something i would volunteer for again.

was a beam for a pergola, this was only one of 24 like it some up to 350mm x 150mm.

timber was worth over $70 000 just for a pergola over a BBQ area.
