i charged for 8 cube worked out on the average of both end diamiters. 1.35 and .75.

in acutal fact it was still 1.2m at about 7m so it was more like 11 cube.

    no wonder im sore.

ok now its making sense when i read your first post it said 8 cube on the ground but if its 11 cube then i can see how that could have been a workout for the jack.

not much taper either, pitty about the pith in the middle tho

i charged him for 8 should have charged more but its not a bad days wages.

really the log was a typical flooded, #####. full of gum veins. every board i cut i looked at and felt bad for him, but he was so happy he was running around like a 8 year old on Christmas.

i think his wife got sick of "look at his dear" and "isn't this piece nice" and " look a bench top darling"

i dont care if iv made money, i have more than once discounted a job below cost because the timber wasnt any good. not really my fault but i feel bad otherwise.

even if they are happy with it if im not i usualy discount the price.

fair call, i like to cover my cost when those types of jobs turn pear shaped but when they do i don,t expect them to pay full price although some customers will insist on paying

ok inter you got me, the tree was straight i just put the jack in and jacked it into teh end grain for fun.

if you take another look you will see that all teh pics were taken from the front.

    Nothing would suprise me anymore

actually if you look at pic 1 we will call that front or 0 degrees, you can just see the big limb straight in front top of pic. 2 trees in background, grey mark at base of tree on the left side

pic 2 big limb pointing out towards right, so that pic is taken about 50 degrees from front on, 2 trees behind in different locations away to the left, grey mark at base of tree almost in centre

pic 3 big limb pointing nearly directly to the right so that pic is taken at nearly 80 degrees to the first pic, 2 trees in background not in picture anymore, some pine trees now in picture, grey mark on base of tree now on right side

so through nearly 80 degrees of rotation looking at the tree & the others around it, it looks very much the same angle of lean as all the other trees.
and that would be a remarkable coincedence if they were all leaning the same way

    .
    regards inter

Are you starting to work out why I rarely post? It only takes a couple of know-all big noters to bugger a site.

Don't take it to heart, Carl, I reckon most of the people here know who they'd rather have a quiet ale with and he doesn't live near Grafton.
    Cheers,

Weisy, don't worry about him, there's a button you can push to make them (Wayne's) go away. You add some colour to the site would be a shame to stop posting.
Inter I dispute your "forensics" on the photos. For one the optics are going to distort things, for two, taking a cue from that black patch on the tree, the angle change in the three photos is more like 30º-40º at most and three, the photos are only about 30º-40º off the line of fall of the tree so you can't say diddly about the lean that Carl was fighting. You would have to see a photo of the whole tree from 90º to the fall line. Whether Carl's method of calculating the lean is 100% correct - for the purpose of this post - who care's.
In addition to your other policing roles on this site, if you want to now police exaggeration then there's about 3/4 of the posts on this site you need to get working on.

I do agree with you on one point though, it would be a remarkable coincidence if they were all leaning the same way.

    As I said truly remarkable

    never seen it before

    cheers
    Michael

I do not post much on this section of the forum. Just read a bit here and there. There is always going to be people who agreed with you and people that do not agree. That said having someone upset you so much that you no longer post, to whos advantage is that?
