6-18 Lucas Portable Sawmill 18hp - eBay, Equipment, Machinery, Woodworking, Industrial. (end time 16-Aug-10 07:57:43 AEST)I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.
Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.

Gee thanks mate -
Actually saw one working at the Bris-vegas wood show a few years ago and liked it...they go at 100 gazelles per hour [at least] and rough-cut pretty well.
Had 2 guys tailing out and they were moving all the time. Could do pretty good volume if you had the logs handy and a loader.
Still like the Mahoe though, eh, remember that 10ft roostertail of sawdust?

Our paths may cross as I'm moving to the Sunshine Coast this year some time.
Also coming up your way eventually on a trip around the block with my Woodmizer LT40 [Hyd]. She's only got a 35 hp Cat so prob much smaller than your mate's.]
Gotta love those hydraulics myself.
cheers,
richie
