Thanks Roy, if my memory serves me well, Lindsay used to be on the forum. I’ll try to find him that way.
Im thinking that loading it on a car trailer and taking it to a mill might be the go ..... especially as I have so many labourers to help?

As Rustynail advised...WRONG time of year to mill it...take heed!
The borers will smash it...the heat will buckle it...particularly if it is slabbed through and through as there will be quite a bit of backsawn and riftsawn material...if milled into quarter sawn boards you'll eliminate a fair bit of degrade but...
    Listen to the 'experts' folks
    1) End seal the billet
2)Spray it with appropriate pesticide (mix with diesel)
    3)Mill in the cooler months
    Good luck...MM

I can give you a hand doing that. Come to think of it I might be able to borrow a Tirfor, rope and chains but I have to know by tomorrow midday as Mrs P. is going down the coast and she can bring it back.

If you want boards instead of slabs a couple wedges and a sledge and it should quarter easy enough, particularly if you drop a chainsaw through it in front of the wedges. That will at least make loading easy, and you can sort it out with a tablesaw or bandsaw later.

I'm happy enough to mill it for you, but as I said earlier, its futile at this time of year. I have a couple of jobs booked in for April down Camden way. Would be smart to bring the log to the saw, rather than set up for one poxy bit of stick. We will be running a slabber and a swing blade at both sites. Have a think about it.

    Rusty’, you’re THE MAN!
OK, here’s the plan, I’ll get the log to my place, paint the ends and insecticide, think carefully about what I will do with it, drink beer with FF at George IV, in April get Rusty’ to slab it and, if necessary, offer Rusty’ the use of my back paddock to slab his and mine, drink beer with Rusty’ at GeorgeIV?
Many thanks to all and I may be calling on some labouring help and drinking beer with labourers at George IV.
I have also received a nice thankyou card from the Marketing Department of the George IV

I think there's a step or three missing from that plan

Issue recognised and edit to include Rusty’ and potential labourers already enacted

Thanks for the offer of a paddock, but we are milling a heap of pine for log cabins. There is about 4 maybe 5 jinkers worth. We are not talking just a few logs here.
To be honest, I think John's suggestion of wedge splitting is a good one. This I gather is a silkie oak? If so, it should be quarter cut all the way, not slabbed. Quartering will give the fleck medullary ray look that makes the oaks so attractive. Slabbing only gives a very small percentage of quarter cut material.
What ever you decide to do, try to keep the log or splits from drying out too much. A piece of old carpet under felt is good. Toss it over the lot and hit it with the hose every so often.
