Any ideas on the speciecs?
A few pics of a decent tree I took down for a customer a few weeks ago. Tree was about 30mts tall. Base of the tree is huge! Still gotta go back and grind out the bugger. Any idea of the species lad? I'm going to have a go at slabbing the main trunk in a few weeks when it starts raining and I can hide in the workshop and play on the mill smithb tree1.jpgsmithb tree2.jpgsmithb tree3.jpgsmithb tree4.jpg

Iooks like it may be mana gum but they look diferent up here.
I cut one of these that was a butifull straight billet for a customer and it has craizy tention and will twist up badly or even split.
The one I cut spit the entire log at one end once I got threw half of it.
Coul make some nice interier birds thow.
Good luck Eli

If it is Viminalis, it is not a highly regarded timber. If it seems to be a problem once you start cutting, I wouldn't persevere with it.
