Default My Lucas is not big enough!

I need to raise my end frames by about 500mm in order to take the 1st slice off the top of a customers jarrah burl!
What does anyone use? Fairly straight forward is it? I was going cut some logs to length and use those...
Ps pic should hopefully be posted tomorrow...

You could cut 4 x log rounds 500mm long and place under the end frames. You may have too use rope on all end frames (both sides) to support mill, down to some steel pegs or similar

    Cheers lads,
I did indeed use 4 x rings from the firewood pile and then used 125x230 offcuts to build it to what i needed. Had to belt length of gal pipe into the sawdust pile to receive the pointy end of slabber stabiliser mid post. Will try and post pics tomorrow...

Pics as promised! Note the mill had to be built up to accommodate the size of the burl! Customer was happy, 8 decent slabs mostly 90mm thick, few 60mm slabs and still have the base of the burl about 600mm deep to slab, it started to move around, will flip it over onto the next decent log i face off and mill it that way

I thought you were joining the "green team"? I'd love a weekend away but at the present moment i'm working 8 days a week trying to keep my tree lopping customers happy...
But i think if your going to make claims like that, it's only fair that you post a pic or 2!

Hey Darren, good to see you are finding time to use the mill. I have been handing your number to a few people lately as I still get calls and emails around once per month.

Just emailed your number to another guy up here in Kalamunda

Sold the lucas as I found I had to much on the go and the capital outlay was to much to have it lying around idle. I loved milling and would like to one day get another just for myself but when it came down to it I make far more money building decks and timber landscape contruction stuff in the little bit of spare time I do have

If you have the gear handy it is possible to dig a trench to drop the log/burl into. I once used an excavator so that I could reach the top of a big log. Then had him haul it out again when I was about halfway down. I was lucky that he was on the spot.
Not something I would want to do by hand.

Question I want some logs milled

I have a few logs that need milling. Is anyone willing to have a crack at dry Wandoo?
