Wanted someone to mill some railway sleepers
Hey all
I'm looking a getting 4 jarrah or ironbark railway sleepers milled in half. size will most likely 250x125 to roughly 250x60
Anyone from Melbourne interested?

i have milled sleepers before with good sucess provided they are clean good sleeper eg AA grade i may be too far for you to travel approx 100klm melb

Daniel,
Did you have any luck finding anyone?
My Brother-in-law at Kinglake has had some pretty good results milling (Lucas Mill) up some old sleepers to use as VERY chunky window frames.
PM me and I'll ask him what he wants as far as payment for his time on the mill - but I'm sure he'd be happy to do it if you can get the sleepers up there...

Just beware of the embedded asbestos fibres from the train brakes. Wear your PPE.

Sleepers can be a touchy subject. I used to charge $15 per cut and a clause in the cutting agreement saying if blade touches metal, you just bought it
