milling needed
Hi fellow loggers I have a quantity of spotted gum that was felled for a house pad recently (10 logs of decent size). I am wanting to do a milling agreement with anyone willing. The miller could take all timber but I would want 1 slab per log milled, I also have a Mackay Cedar that requires milling (1000mmlong x 900mm wide) I would be prepared to give 1 slab of this to the miller if wanted. If not prepared to mill mackay cedar as well then not interested. I am able to help with milling/loading etc, Good access, to mill onsite, you can leave all offcuts behind if desired. Location is 5 mins from Gatton, Qld. cheers.

I'm willing to be that as long as you take the wood to him, Mapleman would be up to the task after the Maleny Wood Expo.
Worth asking anyway. Tell him I sent you
Cheers,
Luke

Sorry to hear that Mike, something you don't really need right now.

Sounds like the seal/bottom bearing on the output shaft has gone - from memory, your mill is of the vintage where it has the grease nipple at the bottom that needs regular attention.
Bad news is if its trouble with the gearbox, you're up for a whole new unit, good news is they don't use those ones with the grease nipple anymore so no issues arise from lack of greasing.I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

I'm in Gatton - surprised no-one mentioned that
By saying you want one slab from each log, is it correct in assuming you want all the logs slabbed? Typically its not really worth slabbing logs under 600mm diameter in my opinion. Logs abound in the sub 600mm range and as a consequence there isn't much money for slabs from such logs. By the looks of some of your spotty it seems rather gummy, has heartshake and is quite small in diameter.
I'd be happy to have a look and give you a quote if you are so close to GattonI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
Allan.

Hi Sigidi, Im at Adare if you want to take a look, also if you wanted to cut other sized timber from the gums instead of slabbing that's fine, I would want the cedar slabbed though. I do have a Alaskan & 076 CSM setup its just a lot for me to do at this stage, and I don't have a long enough bar for the cedar.
cheers Paul
