Default Milling in South West of WA

    Hi all
This is my first post to this web site.
I have a number of karri trees on my farm in karridale and was wondering if anybody was available to mill a few of these trees possible for a share of the timber.

I wish to use the milled timber in roof construction at the farm
    Cheers
    D McC

What I'd suggest is measuring the trees up and providing that information as well.

The maximum diam is critical since this determines what people can handle with their gear, so is it 1, 2 or 3 m diam?

The minimum size you want milled is also important as some people won't bother milling small trees.

Then it will be useful to specify what timber sizes you want milled. eg not everyone can mill really long beams etc.

Other useful information is who is felling the trees. What equipment if any do you have on site to move logs and timber?

Finally how much timber will you need. A miller may not want to travel a long way to fire up their saws for just a few beams while others may only be prepared to come for a day or two.

One problem for most millers in cutting for a share of timber is that they have to travel with enough transport for their mill and then to also take the timber away. In practice this means several trips and before one realizes it any potential profit evaporates in fuel costs.
