there thing make it harder to do things but not impossible. tere are ways around anything without breaking teh rules.

    still not sure.

but im leaning towards a new model 8-25 lucas. the main reason being i can buy 2 and pay wages for operators for a month for 2 operators for the same price as any of the auto machines i like.

The big problem is finding operators worth having. I've had literally dozens of workers through here and no more than a couple had any potential to be anything more than labourers with their thumb in their bum and mind in neutral. Quite a few were barely capable of making it to work on two consecutive days.

As you know, there's a lot more to milling than just pushing the saw. You're going to have to be prepared to do a fair bit of training, I reckon. Having said that, I reckon you're on the right track if you can get the blokes.
    Cheers,
    Craig

Yeah I would love to be able to keep give 2 millers $50k a year each to mill timber but I would think that it be better to employ 1 miller on a better machine and a Forester to make a better forest

You have done up the motor on your mill heaps of times ? How many hours before it needs a rebuild ?Must be like those round australia tour coaches . They run em 24/7 and wear out a brand new 6 cylinder diesel every few months apparently

None of the available swing mills are any good for fixed site milling, Lucas's are alright but not fantastic. Petersons are plenty flawed. I say make your own, maybe use some bits off the lucas, that's the only way you'll get what you need

For that money you couldn't go wrong, cant be that bad a saw, pretty much a standard quality brand of saw found in a lot of HWD mills. Might even be a one man operation
