    Default Paint for stihl chainsaw

Looking to buy some paint for a stihl saw, anyone know where I could find the correct colour in Australia? On the american forums they suggest ford lt grey tractor implement paint is pretty close to the original but have tried searching around and can't seem to find it here.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

Take a part of the chainsaw to an automotive/industrial paint supplier and have it computer matched, they will then supply you with the relevant paint, I suggest industrial equipment enamel, in that colour.

A Stihl dealer should be able to get the exact colour for you.
Stihl part numbers: for the grey its 0000-000-2102 and the orange is 0000-000-2101.
Don't know about the price - probably going to be the same as getting a colour match

According to Chainsaw restorers in the US using the Stihl paints, if a grey etch primer is used the Stihl grey covers quickly in a few coats but the Stihl orange takes many coats to achieve the proper colour depth. Most restorers use something else.

If you only need a small amount i.e. touch ups, then SuperCheap Auto will also match paint and put it in a spray can which is pretty handy.
It's not as tough as an industrial enamel but then again I did not apply as thick a coat as the original.

Yeah would like to avoid using the Stihl paints, haven't heard any good things about it.

Might take a small part into bunnings and have them try and match it. Probably will use Wattyl Killrust Epoxy Enamel
