Cheers Bob and Gavin for a good day out, sorry I had to leave before the beers. Was a very informative day, now time for me to set up some gear and see what i can do.

Yes sorry about that . Did not Know only bobL was starting and finishing the cuts. Just saw one person with shorts and one with chaps. I have seen people wearing thongs, (flipflops ) not the other type. Though the chain could break and fling about at any time I suppose. I have only seen two break and they were old chains. I am sure Bobl's chains are in good condition.
I am learning, slowley.

Don't bet on it!
The risk of anything happening regards chain breakage even when stopping and starting is very low. Remember when milling the bottom of the saw where a broken chain might normally flick around is now on the other side of the operator. I've broken about 6 chains while milling. All have been non-events with the chain just falling off the bar and laying in the kerf. I'm not saying nothing won't happen - just that the risk is real low. I wear chaps when milling because I was prepping the log and that's when they are really needed. I'm also demoing and like to show best practice.
