    Default Pine logs

Hi All, I have been given a lagre amount of pine logs up to 800mm some logs are 6m and then a couple are close to 12m long all of which has really good wood, only small knots and straight trunks. My question, is it possible to join 2 lucas mill frame together as to be able to cut say upto 12m lenghts, having thoughts of 200 x 75 x 12000 for shed or house beams, only trouble can think of is how to transport after cut.

acording to lucas you can join as many rail lengths togetehr as you want. you need a height adjusterat each joint thow. you could get them transported alright just might cost a bit.

I believe the Lucas rails can be extended, but you end up with multiple supports and winchs to adjust. It can be done, but it slows things down a lot. Not so bad if the beams you cut are worth twice as much of course.

The Peterson WPF system is easier to extend because the rails are fixed. So you can lay out as many as you want and cut 60ft ship masts.

Moving the cut boards/beams is still an issue... forks on a front end loader would come in handy.

Thanks all, have decieded to cut logs at 6m instead, easier to transport and not having the trouble of finding more rails.
