QLD Power Poles

Had a random call the other morning from someone asking how I would dispose of a few hundred thousand timber power poles from the recent floods in QLD. Fella wanted to know if they could be chipped through a conventional trailer mounted machine. Not likely with all the metal in them! Told him to cut them for firewood if their not treated or cut for fence posts. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll pass on contact number.

There's a place here in Narangba that recovers poles. All metal components are removed, checked by metal detector, then the poles are bucked to the required length, finally cut into decking, posts, etc.

I once grabbed one of their offcuts about 2m long and 250mm diameter. It's still sitting in the backyard.

I know, but I think he said he got my number from another tree lopper over here and was ringing me to quiz me on possible ways to reduce the pile. Will be curious to see how the lads I've responded to go and wait to see some pics! (just a small pile i believe)

I tried to get some second hand power poles years ago and they were in hot demand then. I suggest your caller try advertising them, he might be surprised what they are worth. This includes damaged, split and broken poles. A million and one uses

Didn't think it would, sendin 'em that far would have been perfect madness, especially when they could have been processed in qld just as easy.

Na the bloke never got back to me. I was already to process them and even had a wholesale buyer for them but.... as the story goes in never happened.
