Steve, the problem is any old Joe can get their hands on a mobile mill, of any condition, say they know timber, go out charging top dollar talking the talk and not even be a sawyers elbow, but that old Joe's customers have no idea that the owner who isn't any bloody good.
I pride myself on being very particular and rather pedantic - Carl and I worked my mill and did something where our boards where measured after being cut and all the boards where no greater than 2mm larger than target size and none where under target size - a total variation of 2mm, much lower than the standard allows for green rough sawn timber, so it really does peeve me that mobile mills have the name they do when it is just the operatorI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Ya do deserve some credit there Sigidi. Have you guys tried hard en up timbers up in bundy its a coop of indapendent millers up here ? I d have thought that what the timbers sawed on would be the least of a retailers troubles with the mill closures about the place.

Retailers have no idea about what machinery it's sawn on, they just get the timber from wholesalers - typically standing traditional mills who have the contract to supply the retailer. It's the mobs that a small operator supplies that balk about mobile mills and will balk 3x as much for a mobile bandmill
