what i am building is a bench to resaw large cants (8x4) into flooring and other sizes.

ill put a caridge on it that teh cants are clamped into that is powered threw the saw.

all i need now is the hydrostatic drive off a lawnmower.

will put about 40 - 50 hp or something on it.

there is a way of working it out, its some combination of

feed rate - number to teath - cut depth - rpm.

cant find it at the moment iv got it in one of my books.

yer these blades are made to run at lower hp but higher rpm, thats the reson for the lesser teath.

a 40-50 hp 3 phase motor will be heps to run up to a 300mm cut mostly it will be around 4"

we always ran 100hp on the breakdown benches when we had teh mill and you couldnt kill them in a 3' cut.

yeah big difference between electric and fuel hp so 3 phase in that hp bracket should be fine.
