Scots pine
Hi All,
Just would like to share pic from a large Scots pine we are currently milling. it was planted around 1855 at a old homestead but in recent years has died due to the drought. we are quite happy with the timber. Slabbing the main trunk 6m long and 700mm wide. I think we need a longer trailer!!

Burnsy.
Probably the wrong thread for this but anyway, it's a good Lucas story..
Got asked by the local heritage trust to remove this log from the front yard of an old house in town.
Not sure exactly what type of pine but as you can see, fairly large bark scales and the timber looks good.
Either way, it will keep me off the streets for a while.
Cheers.
Rob.

We had a few corners but went slow, all good. at this stage don't really have any plans other than table, bench tops but it has generated some keen interest amongst local cabinet makers. Ended up with about 2.5 m/3 from first tree and still have 1 more to do about the same size.

Nice log metricky!! should get some good clean planks from it.
Rosewood - that wouldn't be a Canary Island Pine would it? They have bark like you describe and grow pretty big.

Baltic pine is a psuedonym just like Tassy Oak
One of the primary timbers comprising baltic pine is Scots Pine.
