    Default Stihl 090 for $650

What do you guys think? It has a 32" bar.The kicker for me is that the previous owner was the SES(state emergency service)The Stihl guy said the compression is OK and outside it does look like a tidy unit.
    Cheers,Steve.

i would say normally that these people dont keep their equipment very long. It is traded reguarlly.

It should be good. It is about 1/3 price so i would go for it.

    Cheers

I have one of the chinese ones off ebay, 52 cc 22" $143 delivered. It is better than I expected and as a mate with a stihl said you'd pay that for an annual service. I've got some stihl stuff, but I'm happy with my saw. Don't expect it to last a lifetime, but if it lasts 2 years I reckon I'm ahead.

    Just another option.

    Well done Steve,

With the mill I know people like making their own and some good examples abound. For me the Westford was the best option as it is light and easy to use. I take out West and have to carry it distances to select timber and don't want a unit heavier than necessary especially hauling it in heat with flies adding to the nuisance factor and secondly I wanted a reliable rig - can't afford a weld to break when so far from repair.

My 2c worth - good luck.
    Cheers

    Hello Steve
Is the saw an 090AV or an 090G? The 090 standard saw is very hard on the hands after extended use. The 090AV is a good saw to use. If you have an 090G then you have a real bargain for $650 but even if its not then it is a good price. I have seen 090's go for well over $1000 and they looked like they had been in a war and lets face it a saw from the SES would have spent more time stored in a truck than in use.

    Regards

    Phil
