Default Have timber need milling, nth west nsw

    Hi
Great education resource on this site. I own a property near Lightning Ridge NSW and have to clear a line for a new fence. Some excellent timber trees to be cleared include river red gum, supplejack, rosewood (boonery) gidgee and beefwood (among others). Am looking for someone to mill them for me as we wish to use them for quality furniture projects and house renovations. I did consider buying my own chainsaw mill but thought I'd seek out a professional miller with Lucas or similar so as to get the job done properly by an experienced operator (I don't want to waste the timber learning). Am willing to pay in $ or timber share or a combination of both. I know travel will be an issue but I have to wear that. Is there anyone amongst you who may be interested in this please feel free to post back here or email. Any help most appreciated, as am unfamiliar with timber milling and the costs involved.
    Cheers, David

    Welcome to the Forums.

There are people out there who would give up a left body part for some of those timbers. As you say the remoteness will be an issue, but a lot will depend on quantities involved. Perhaps if you were able to offer accomodation it might be attractive despite any distance involved.

Could we ask you to post some (actually as many as possible) pictures of the trees?

    Regards
    Paul

Accommodation is no problem, I could put the guys up in the old shearers quarters (as long as they're not looking for five star
I'm going away working for a couple of weeks, will post up some pickies when I get back. Millable sections vary in diameter from 250mm to 1m diameter and 1m to 5m lengths. Total quantity; I guess about 15-20 of the said trees, but could be more if I decide to run more fence. I also have one or two nice silky oaks in the garden that could be done.

Will look forward to that. It may well be attractive to somebody who would like to get away from their normal routine. Pics are definitely the way to go.

Dave, give Lucas a ring 1800LUCAS1, they will be able to recommend a few mill owners in your area
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
