    Default Tree loppers new toy

Currently the tree lopper (in whose yard I mill logs) has a small articulated loader that we used to move logs
It's used mainly to load mulch onto trucks but has a fixed set of forks that can be used wi
It's limited to about one ton as above that things get pretty dicey because being articulated it's liable to tip if turned too tightly with a heavy load.

So now he's looking at this.
Its supposed to be able to lift nearly 3 tons
Could be a fun thing to drive?

Bottom of the second page has max lift, SWL, and static tipping load: it's not going to handle three ton well at all. Still be a fun thing to play with - though it might not be that much bigger then that little loader.

All new toys are good toys

Yep its more like 2.2 ton full lift and a bit more when the load is lower to the ground. Whatever it is, it's a least double what the little loader can do and safer as well.

    Here's mine, 85 hp
It has a tipping load of 2.8T
ROC of 35% on uneven ground of 980kg
ROC of 50% on flat ground of 1400kg
During the recent earthworks at the farm I had it running on it's nose a few times with the load only inch's off the ground.

If you are only going to use it to move logs there may be better options.

Having said that they are an awesome bit of gear.
If you go that way consider getting the log grapple as it makes it impossible for the log to get away

    Very nice.

The primary use won't be for moving logs but for doing work in the perth hills.
