I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.

Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.

    Here's my steel banding trolley/cart/dispenser.

The dispenser part is made from 20 mm solid steel rod and some 3 mm steel plate all U-bolted to the frame of a $25 sack trolley.

There are some greased PVC pipe offcuts covering the 20 mm rod so the band rolls over the rod easily enough.
Separating the roll from the trolley frame is a piece of 3 mm HDPE.

To load a new band the thru clips holding the blue steel strap T-Piece are pulled allowing the T-piece to be removed.

The red toolbox holds the tools (tensioner, crimper and cutter) and a some crimp clips.
I will add an ocky strap to hold the tool box onto the trolley

To stop the band unravelling I made this brake. It pull through easily enough, but is more resistant to retracting than pulling forward.

The small toggle can also be thrown thru 90º to completely lock the band to the brake.

Thanks Guys. You're starting to work out I don't have a life eh! SWMBO goes horse riding and I just stay home and fart about in my shed.

As you can tell from those eyes, new Border Collie pup "Willow" is giving us a bit of a wake up. She loves the shed. Tries to bite the sparks coming off the welder and grinder, attacks the air compressor nozzle and moving drill chucks and can't sit still for too long. I starting to get a bit worried about what she will do to a running chainsaw. She always has to be doing something, if I don't pay her enough attention she tips over the rubbish bins, then she shreds all contents, cardboard paper, plastic, wood etc, and then runs off with a bit of wood, fixing or metal I need and find days later hidden somewhere in what's left of the garden. Her favourite "toys" are spray cans of anything and buckets which she can now destroy in 24 hours. Inside the house she is the same, chewing the skirting boards, degutting her toys and her bedding, eating the crotch out of used undies, doing her business in the most convenient places, and eating anything that's not put away. The other night she very quietly sneaked off with a plastic pack of smoked salmon that was placed well back on the kitchen bench. We eventually did find the empty plastic packet, well half of it, the rest was in her doggy too! If we are not crying we're laughing.
