Canberra show 2015
Hi,
Well it is here, but I can't prove it. yesterday when I should have been photographing it I was on the operating table, so today I rushed in and took pix but when I got home they will not load into my computer. The driver is not working and I can not find my disk for this camera and Canon says they do not have the driver for Vista or I do not need one. **#&!!!!
It is rather a down played affair and Timbecon cancelled at the last moment (I hope they got a note from their Mum) and nothing much else tempted me, I spent $16, 8 on some tiny hinges and 8 on some key hole picture hangers. The Woodworkers Guild's display made my trip worth wile.
RegardsHugh

Hugh I had the same problem with my Canon. Re-installed. Nope.
So I bought a card reader from Jaycar for $not much - should have done it years ago. You know how it takes ages for the pics to come off the camera? More or less instant with a card reader - just like copying from folder to folder.

I also went, no photos sorry. HNT Gordon and Jim Davey had very nice bits on show, and Carbatec had quite an impressive stand, but it was almost impossible to work out what they had brought with them, so you had to ask for specific items as they had stuff stacked in cupboards, Trend Timbers also had quite an impressive stand. The woodworkers guild display was worth a look, they had some interesting bits there. There was a guy from Grafton out front who managed to take a lot of my money, as he was selling Aust Red Cedar slabs, he also had some nice rosewood, and although it was a lot, his prices were very reasonable by my reckoning. Spent this arvo making templates in preparation for building a TV stand that I have been promising SWMBO for some time.
Overall I reckon those exhibitors that did turn up put on a good show, but I honestly expected a little more, the last time I went was three years ago and I reckon there were almost twice as many stands.Last edited by Thylacene; 7th November 2015 at 10:59 PM. Reason: corrected stand name

We had full intentions of taking photos but couldn't be bothered once we were in there. Was too distracted and thought someone else would make the effort. My son's SLR stayed in his bag and I concentrated on spending the cash I brought down then hit up the credit card. Just before I left I took some mediocre shots with my phone for the hell of it but they don't convey at all what was there.
There were fewer people then I expected but that suited me fine. Good access for a chat with exhibitors and to quickly exchange funds. There was definitely far less timber out front on our way out compared to when we arrived, as a steady progression of vehicles loaded up during the afternoon.
I really enjoyed seeing the demos and all demos seemed to be well patronised. My aim was to get a closer look at some tools I've only seen in catalogue pages or online. My favourite purchase was an HnT Gordon shoulder plane. I gotta get more of these over time. I bought a couple more Japanese saws, carving chisels from Trend Timbers and a dusty from Carbatec plus a turbo plane from Arbortech, and a bunch of consumables from a few vendors.
It was a shame Timbecon pulled out but I stood in their spot and snapped a couple of crappy pics, just to prove I was there Then there's one from outside but yeah, sorry for not making them more interesting. I was beat by the end of the day.

At last
Hi,
Well here are some photos.
Thanks for the solution FF, I do not know how long it would have taken me to think of that simple solution on my own. Of course first place I tried was out of stock.
Some of the shots leave a bit to be desired, I don't think I waited for the camera to focus, but I am posting as better than nothing, which is what we seem to be getting.

The outside one should have been first, notice the lack of signage, there were signs on the fence and gate but not visible on approach and with a gem show and fashion show in other pavilions they may have sucked some more passer bys in.
Sorry for the delay.
RegardsHugh

Hi,
It's not so much the time as the delicate touch to only push the button half way. I did go back to redo the Davenport but it's creator was giving some one a full display at the time.
It was only 23 hours after being told not to drive or sign any legal documents maybe I should not have been operating the camera as well as not driving to the show.
Now how's that for a week excuse.
RegardsHugh

Enjoyed the show...
I enjoyed the show. I spent about 2 1/2 hours there with my 3 year old having a hoot.
As always, Jim Davey's stand is a must-see and Santa already has my want list Besides that, Jim and Suzie (Spelling? Please let me have spelled her name right!!) are just awesome company. They could've been selling spatulas and I'd still have spent 30 minutes there.
The fellow using the drawknife was a must see demo for me, as was the Gifkins Jig demos.
My young fellow was blown away by the rocking horses, and nearly cried because I wouldn't let him climb on them (Curse those talented artisans and their quality children's toys!!!).
