Oh, that's right, you live in Canberra now. As you were!"I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

Yes - I'll be there on Friday with my forum hat - also possibly on the Sunday as well if my son is interested in going.
Look forward to catching up with whoever is there.
I haven't had much time this year to do much woodworking - hopefully that will change soon. Only did a box earlier this year - still needs to be finished.
Oges - welcome to Canberra - I dont have too much trouble with ice on the windscreen if the car is in the garage.

Can anyone recommend a picture framing jig/kit to checkout at the wood show?

Veezy will be there at stand 68 from the looks of the map, bought the framing stuff last show and only just got around to using it a few weeks ago - does the job well for what I was wanting it for. For much heavier frames would use biscuits but for most 'normal' frames it does a good job.
This mob should send me a free kit I put someone else on to them a couple of weeks ago ...
Obviously I have no affiliation with them...

..On the subject of things at the show does anyone know if any of the stands will have Bessey's? I can't remember if anyone has them there, from memory I doubt it but if anyone has seen them stocked at Sydney, Brisbane etc... let me know.
I need to add a couple more to complete my clamp rack (yea I know you never have enuff ). The one's Burn organised for us have sold me on Bessey's - can't go back:eek:

Brett,
I'd imagine Carbatec would have them at the show, but I'd also suggest you check the usual suspects to check price - ie Colin's, Ideal, Just Tools, ... just checked, Colin's are still the cheapest but you'd need to check on freight as opposed to buying them from the show.

Burn,
Once again thanks mate, I'll check 'em out.
On the strength of the stuff the Guild has produced over the last few years I'll be there again this year, might see ya there.
Cheers.

Burn and Co.
I am a total newb to turning and am seriously considering joining the guild at the www show. I am interested in doing a turning course and am wondering if the guild runs such courses. If they do, do they run them separately from general meeting times.. then again I can ask the folks at the guild stand on Sunday.

Pete,
Courses are run for turning at the guild from time to time and outside normal Wednesday night meetings (end of month). Additionally the guild has turning Special Interest Groups (SIG's) which meet once a month to turn and learn to turn. Wander over the the Guild information desk when you get the chance and have a yarn to the people there. I'm not a turner, but half the guild is, so there should be someone around who can talk about the turning SIGs and/or courses.
Anyway, hope to see you at the show.
By the way, since this is somewhat of a Canberra specific thread, I thought I'd mention that Canberra has a new (or rather old but revamped) woodworking store. Fitch Sharpening in Fyswick. They have been around for a long time and always had mid-range woodworking machinery and tools but they never really appeared to want to sell the stuff - it was all collected in a heap in their front office under inches of dust. I believe they have recently grabbed some showroom space in the same building complex, but now you can see their stock! A little healthy competition never hurts! I've not been there yet, but once I do, I'll post something about them. It's always good to have a range of stores to select from!

Went to the show on Sunday and wore the brand new gleaming forum cap but did not get any enquiries or recognition ( must be the new deoderant)- or lack of. I've noticed sadly that the show there gets smaller each year and $15 to get in?
