Differences between shows?
I've been to the Maleny Wood Expo last year and this year and loved it both time. I do end-up lugging far too much wood to my car throughout the day but meet great people, have some good laughs and overall a thoroughly enjoyable time. So, the Brisbane Timber and Working with Wood show is on in a couple of weeks time and I've never been but I'm curious what to expect. Is it mainly trade oriented, timber merchants, demos and tutorials or completed crafts?

It's more of a trade show. Brands like Dremel, Triton, Bosch, and Jet have their own stalls.
There are fewer independent woodworkers participating every year because I believe the price increases most years. I think it's more expensive to have a stall there than Maleny by a fairly large factor.
That said, there are still some people who go to the TWWW show who don't go to Maleny. There are also some who go to both.
There is usually good timber available, but, in my experience, it's usually not as good as that in Maleny.
It's a good time. The forums usually host a stand so you can meet some folks.
I encourage you to go, but don't expect the same vibe as Maleny.
Cheers,
Luke

Thanks Luke. Visiting the Forum stall is probably going to be highlight of the show.

I just came back from the show and overall, I was disappointed. I was expecting more vendors, particularly the small vendors in the Brisbane area. The selection of timber was great with quite a few vendors with some really interesting stuff. If I hadn't stocked up at Maleny, I would have loaded up the car but as I was expecting tools, I went looking for tools. I came back with my shopping list about 1/8th filled. I do hope others found it a good show.
