RE: Jeff's Shed, You're Joking. But I'll be there anyway.
Wow I can't believe such mature people kick up a fuss about everything (no offence intended) sure I don't like jeffs shed and their ridiculous parking fees but I'll be going for the love of timber.
Also if the organises dicide to pull the pin ive got plenty of investers that are in talks to start a all new show and I'll make sure of that
cheers stevo.

Firstly, the "and trailer" part of the question still remains unanswered and has been asked four times.
Secondly, within the context of the thread, the organisers moving venues and trying to keep the show going, etc; looking for deals and better value for exhibitors and patrons is what it is all about and should have been part of the negotiations that went on BEFORE deciding to move. I have alluded to that in earlier posts in this thread but I am not sure they survived the recent culling to clean up the thread, and I dont have the inclination at the moment to read through six pages of posts to find out. It is irrelevant if they did or not. But I have raised the subject and that is the point.
It is their business not mine, and I do not know what research they have done before making the big decision to relocate, but since over the years, parking, including disabled parkng and package pickup have featured heavily in the issues that have been raised by attendees, I am surprised that apparently the issues of parking with a trailer was not part of the original negotiations, as indicated below:
I cannot believe that nobody amongst the organisers even thought of this and had details confirmed before deciding on the move!

Doug
i really didn't know what you were on about when you were asking for the trailer costs as like others i thought why not a phone call (all of the details were posted) - however in your last post you have made it very clear, and it makes lots of sense to try and do a bulk deal - leave it with me, we will do today and hopefully back to you tonight. No promises that we can do a anything but will make the call and lots of thanks for the suggestion

Unless you have some other parking question your answer is here:
http://www.iexh.com.au/images/pdf/me...arking2013.pdf
CORNER OF MONTAGUE AND MUNRO STREETS CAR PARK
Enter via Munro Street
Single Exit Tickets $6.00 for 12 hours Per 12 hours
Almost the same as the Show Grounds parking.
Price doesn't seem to discriminate between car, car and trailer or truck or semi trailer or B-double. Just $6 per exit. We used to park trucks & trailers etc there in the past and I don't think the fee has changed since the last time there was a show. You need to be there early though as a lot of the exhibitors will be parking there. Yes we have to pay for parking also and at the same rates as visitors. However we have to pay for 4-5 days on end.
You get a free ticket into the show if you put in a bit of time on the forum stand which more than offsets your parking for that area. It's a little walk to the venue but only about 4 minutes tops.

we have emailed called and left messages for the car park operators to get back to us - they have promised they will return our calls tomorrow. As per the previous post we believe the information given there is 100% correct however i just want to make sure. As soon as we get the answers i will let you know. Liz

Further to Neil's informative post, this is further car parking details that we have.
We have now spoken to Wilson Parking who have told us as the show is once a year Wilson Parking will not offer a discounted deal.
The car park controlled by Wilson Parking available for trailer parking is the Freeway Car Park. We can confirm that trailers will only be admitted entry to this car park only. (This is from the list of car parks that we have listed and supplied the map for)
The Corner of Montague and Munro Streets Car Park is not controlled by Wilson Parking and is an unmanned pay and display car park. We can not confirm that trailers will be admitted at this car park. We have tried everywhere to find out who controls this park but have been unable to do so - of course not being in Melbourne doesn't help. So anyone going past there at any time if there is a sign there denoting the owners, could you let us know and we can follow up.

Thanks for trying Liz. As for the Montague/Munroe Streets park, It is already cheap and if it is unmanned they would most likely not have any means in place to allow for discounts anyway. I cannot see them putting on staff for the day to give us a discount on what is already the cheapest parking in the area. I thought you had a better chance of getting Wilson's to match it instead.
It would still be good to have information on the event website as to whether the fees stated for the Freeway Car Park are inclusive of trailers, or will we get a little surprise on the way out?

Montague & Munro Carpark
Doug,
If you want to be certain you might give either City Mazda or Kennards Hire in South Melbourne a ring as they are on the opposite corners. They may be able to help in regards to trailer parking ability as they would be looking at it all day.
From Google Streetview it's hard to see where this park ends and Freeway carpark starts, but I saw one trailer disconnected from the car in a separate parking bay, so you may have to park the trailer and car disconnected.
Peter.
PS. Further study of Google Streetview shows that the car park is owned by the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and presumably operated by them.

Pretty sure all the car parks in that area are pay as you leave and unattended so pay at the machine, shove your ticket in the the little hole, wait for the boom to go up and leave.
Maybe someone could take a look at these parking areas when they go down to the DFO area or a show, etc. and maybe report back. There's a good 8 mths until the show so surely someone could post some first hand, been and seen it for myself, info about it in here.
I'm going down for a materials handling show in a week or so and if I remember or get a chance I might have a look. Then again I might just park in the expensive underground one, go enjoy the show, get what I went for and not even bother about the parking at all.

Went to show parked in the DFO carpark right down near Jeffs Shed. Couldn't find any one to talk to as the carpark appears to be unmanned.
It is a single exit payment type carpark. ie you enter and get a ticket then pay for it at a booth before you leave or at the unmanned exit point with a credit card. If you have a trailer I'd reckon you would leave with the normal exit payment of one fee.
However that is just my observation. I suggest that anyone wanting to take a trailer into that carpark do some homework by ringing Wilson Parking and asking what the consequences would/could be if you were to take a trailer in there.
Personally I can't see a problem. There wasn't a sign (that I could see) banning oversize vehicles or trailers from the area.
Pauline and I went to the Exhibition and enjoyed ourselves for a good few hours, then into DFO for an hour or so. Could have had our parking ticket validated in there and received a discount on the parking but didn't buy anything so no validation. Exit fee was $10. Parking was rather convenient and the price was better than some other places we've parked in Melbourne. Not worth making a fuss over.
Cheers

Page 95 of Australian Woodsmith
Issue 101 of Australian Woodsmith arrived in my mailbox today.
Something is wrong with this picture. I cant seem to put my finger on it. Can somebody help me out?
I know it is posted on its side and there is a lot of glare in the photo but it is sitting on a nice piece of timber, but there seems to be something else that is wrong.
