Default Some advice you probably don't want.

How often have you been told of the dangers of smoking? I’ve heard that all my life; but, lung cancer is something that others get, isn’t it? Well here’s something to think about: I gave up smoking over 20 years ago, today I was diagnosed with lung cancer. It’s operable, how successful I won’t know until after the procedure. Like you I always thought that things like lung cancer were diseases that other people got. Not so I’m afraid. Don’t smoke people, DON’T SMOKE.
As we enter our senior years, if we are one of the ‘other people’ we come down with all sorts of complaints, it’s a fact of life and a fact of aging. I have diabetes, it’s no biggy I control it well with insulin. I also have widespread osteo arthritis; again, no biggy, I just take things easier than I used to and swallow NSAIDS by the boxful. I also have psoriatic arthritis (mutilans), believe me this is a biggy – in spades: So far it has proven resistant to all DMARDS and biologics and has spread like wildfire. Pain is ever present and I have largely lost the use of my hands and sometimes find getting around very difficult. These are diseases we have no control over, it happens, it’s a fact of life. You have control over your smoking habit. Think about it!

Hi, I just wanted to say that I really feel for you, I have psoriatic arthritis that started when I was 19, however I don't have mutilans type. I really do wish I could say more, but what can one say. I know that the never ending pain is hard for most people to fully comprehend, so my best wishes and prayers go out to you and those close to you and I hope the operation goes well.

    Sorry to hear,

Its a good start to know that they can operate, hopefully they can get it all out, a good attitude really helps.

My old man, had bowel cancer cut out 18 months ago, and then found out 9 months ago, he has lung cancer (incurable).. he swears it not the smokes.. even though he has smoked since he was 13, plus the fact that up until bowel cancer he grew and produced his own tobacco (its legal in NZ)

He's down to 34kg now .. his time is almost up, but his attitude is bloody amazing.

I really hope the treatments work, but in the meantime, spend as much time as you can with your family
