    Default Bit crook

Woke up yesterday and seemed to be ok.

Went to have a drink and dribbled from the left side of my mouth.
Family looked at me and said - "Your left eye is drooping"
Looked in the mirror and all the muscles in the left side of my face weren't working.

Ok. This does not look good so wife takes me to emergency department.
We go to triage and after describing symptoms, the stroke word is dropped and I am in the door faster than a speeding bullet.
They had me in bed and wired up in minutes.

After ecg, ct, and blood tests a specialist tested all my body reflexes and came to the conclusion it was not a stroke but Bell's Palsy.

Advice I received is that it should return to normal in 5 to 10 weeks.

Have you ever tried drinking a can through a straw..........

Have had a few mates suffer from bells palsy, all returned to their ugly selves in time.

Not good David, but better than the alternative (stroke) I guess.

    Hope it clears up soon.

BTW, when I had heart symptoms my wife took me to the emergency dept as well and we got told in no uncertain terms not to do that again. Ring an ambulance was the very firm advice.

Like Jim, I've had a couple of mates who had it and they all recovered fully.

Yep, distressing at the time but from what a few acquaintances have told me things will get back to normal.

One friend told me that hers was caused by stress. Don't know if this is a cause but she was certainly under heaps of stress at the time.
Took her a few months to get over the paulsey and she has been fine for years.

    Default A bit scarry

Glad to find that it wasn't as bad as first feared. I hope you recover swiftly and your good looks return in good time.

Can of what through a straw?

A friend of mine in school had it for 2 years before back to normal.
Worst bit was he had to pull his eyelid down to keep his eye damp as it would not go by itself.
