Guys, I'm appreciative of the input. I believe that the path I have chosen - 4 to 6 months of vaping - HAS to be better than smoking. I can't wear patches because they put up my blood pressure by 20 points, and gum is just awful and will only lead me back to fags.

Brett, please be careful. Any sign of allergic reaction, mucous production, cough or fever should be immediately looked into. The people I was working with this week included medicinal chemists, drug development experts, a great depth and variety of immune function experts with particular emphasis of immune patholgy, biochemists and molecular biologists. We discussed these devices over beer a couple of evenings after our meetings. Calling their opinions strong is a significant understatement.

A new scientifictruth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.

Love how supportive everyone here has been. I hope you are using the vape as a way to get off nicotine altogether. Here's a story to urge you on. I was in the bank one day and guy came in heavily laden with bags of coins. He chucked them all into the automatic counting machine. When it finished it said he had about $3,500. I said: "wow, that's a lot of coins"; his reply - "that's the money I've saved since giving up smoking 3 months ago". The entire Bank - staff and customers - broke out in cheers. I think everyone went about the rest of the day just a little bit happier. Keep on it, and if you slip up, just get started again. Eventually you will be free.

Having seen the Vapemyster in action on Sunday I can attest to the non offensive nature of vaping. As a reformed smoker I hate cigarette smell. I find it really disgusting now. Brett didn't smell of cigarette smoke and he even looked healthier.
The occasional gurgling of the vape unit was barely noticeable with no clouds of toxic smoke rolling out.
Good luck with it Mate. I hope it gets you there. You won't regret it. You have a lot of years of GTGs to host ahead of you.

Cheers NC! It actually has got me there - I have no desire whatsoever to roll a fag. Perhaps it might be different for a cigarette though.

So, besides 3 rollies of crumbs this morning, today has been my first full vapour day...

It's been ok, but *something* is missing. Whilst I haven't wanted to brutally murder everyone/thing that has crossed my path (which may or may not have anything to do with smoking) I have been feeling pretty ok besides being a little extra "edgy". I think that it's the muscle memory that's giving me grief. Rather than vaping when/where I've wanted, I've made a point of taking it outside, and done the usual pacing around for a dozen tokes or the few minutes a rollie would usually last me.

It has been extremely interesting...as a HEAVY smoker I'm not entirely missing the nicotine (my juices are 1.8ers), although I may be vaping a little extra than rolling. But I'm doing pretty well and nobody has died by my raging hand...yet.

The next big test is how I go in the car on my next regular drive to Colac on Thursday. Traditionally, as soon as I get in the car it's been a chain-fest to rival even the biggest Rastafarian. If I don't get jailed for road raging a grandma for driving .5km/ph under the limit I'll tell y'all how it went

Edit: Oh, and I've been drinking for the last 4 hours with no particular extra cravings...that's a big tell

Well done RSJ. Yes, I found it quite seamless, even the first cig free morning (which was always going to be the biggest test).

Perhaps Bank is a bit higher than 18mg which may be why you feel a little edgy.

Which device did you get? You will need two, as I have found the eGo AIL goes flat without much notice, and takes a couple of hours to charge. Best to charge them overnight. You also need two in case you drop it, etc etc.

    Now stay with it man!

I've got an Aspire K1 starter kit and intend to get some kind of second device when I can because typically I forgot to recharge the thing last night.

The girly has a couple of other different devices with lower power and the Aspire is much better. She's jealous

Yes, I think that should be the case.

The nanny strikes again, but fair enough I guess. As long as they don't tax it like they do the leaf.

It's been going...on and off After vaping for a while if I go for a real smoke (or 20) it doesn't provide the pleasure that it once did. I've just switched juice from a tobacco flavour to a strawberry one. Other life stresses are probably not helping with the progress but hopefully in another week or two they'll be over and I'll find it easier to break the physical habit. It's the physical side that I'm having the most trouble with I think. All in all though, it's been better than nothing.
