Materials for outdoor coverings ?
Im dreaming away about light weight roofing , quick and light to make , but lasting .
I made myself a pergola type covering, over a pool about 8 years back . treated pine trusses screwed together from 125 x 25mm treated pine barge board for fencing . It worked well . The pine dried in situ, and the shade cloth covering stayed on , and from that day on 99% less leaves in my cheap above ground pool .
I started thinking of it again today because I have a need for fast quick storage. I need it to be water proof though .
what lasts longest that is on a roll , cheap and water proof ?
The black builders plastic ? the orange stuff ?
I was amazed at how long the black woven weed mat lasts out doors , I did coverings in that and watched it last 25 years in a bush block shower and toilet covering .
I was thinking of a roof with weed mat nailed down , plastic then shade cloth . Or weed mat , plastic then weed mat. the matting or shade cloth giving strength to the plastic .
Plastic tarps don't seem to last past 4 to 5 years .
